Antique English Victorian Locket Gold Filled Seed Pearl Buckle Feather

Rare Victorian gold filled oval locket with a buckle embraced by two feathers, and a single seed pearl as a buckle tongue in the center. The buckle motif is typical of Victorian Era jewelry, used as a symbol of self-defense, strength and protection. Beautiful workmanship in gold tone material or gold filled (unmarked). No monogram. Hinge is in working order, opens and closes by holding and moving them in opposite directions. Snaps click securely. Hanging on a tear drop shaped bail.  

Condition: In excellent condition. Aged patina and feather scratches on the front and back. The back has a few scratches and several dings. Some wear visible on the inside edge. 

Locket measures 1 1/2"L x 1 1/16"W. With the bail it is 2 1/16"L
